Chinese media reports that four Chinese marine surveillance ships “blocked” and “chased” Vietnamese Marine Police ships in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago are not true, Vietnam News Agency said Wednesday.
On finding the Chinese ships in Vietnamese waters, maritime authorities asked them to leave, the state news agency said.
Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical bases to prove its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa Archipelagoes, it said.
The Vietnamese government’s official news agency also condemned the so-called “patrol” by the Chinese ships in Truong Sa waters, saying it seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty.

It also contravened the Declaration on the 2002 Conduct of the Parties in the East Sea (DOC),
complicated the East situation, and negatively affected regional security and stability, it said.
It said China should stop these "wrongful" acts immediately, comply with the DOC, and not engage in acts that further complicate the East Sea situation.
